Selection of Prospect Opportunities
Synopsis: A company has evaluated six prospects (four domestic
and two international) and is considering which, if any, it should
undertake. In addition it has an option to take a partial Working
Interest in the prospects.
The company will not accept projects yielding below 10% return
on investment as defined by the company's guidelines for project
funding.
Furthermore, the company want to add a minimum of 300 MMstb of
oil reserves to maintain it's reserve base.
In this example, the company's portfolio model of prospects and
existing projects is created using the PortfolioVR Portfolio Management
Tool.
Subsequently, Efficient Frontier techniques are applied to select
the optimal prospect combination given the company's risk tolerance.
