Deepwater Demo

Deep Water West-African Development.

Evaluation of alternative Development Scenarios

Synopsis: A consortium of Western oil companies is considering a bid for acreage offshore Angola. Results from a feasibility study suggests two development options: One alternative involves development from a SPAR platform and the other includes production from two separate subsea templates to a rental FPSO.

The objective of the first example is to demonstrate PlanVR's capabilities as a tool for fast and accurate evaluation of competing scenarios.

Exploration Risk Demo

Exploration Risk.

Assessing the impact of exploration risk on the value of a prospect area

Synopsis: In the prospecting stage the presence of hydrocarbons in exploration opportunities is typically associated with a large degree of uncertainty. Attaching a value to the prospects involves both traditional volumetric assessments as well as an analysis of the economic viability of extraction.

This example evaluates a license area containing 3 offshore prospects. It uses PetroVR’s capabilities to define “chance of failure” and to define development alternatives as decisions embedded in a project timeline.

Development Pace Demo

Development Pace Example

What is the Optimal Development Pace?

Synopsis: A company is evaluating an exploration project of two fields, Odin and Thor. They expect that significant uncertainties in Oil in Place will remain subsequent to exploration and appraisal.

Therefore, they plan to investigate two different development options.

In the first option named “Blow and Go” the company plan to construct a large process facility and have 2 drilling rigs operate concurrently to maximize the development pace.

The alternative “Step by Step” approach includes construction of a small process facility and an upgrade when capacity is exceeded. Only one drilling rig will be operating.

Crude Quality Example

Impact of H2S on Project Economics.

Synopsis: Well tests and information from nearby fields indicate that H2S production in a Devonian (Bravo) and Permian (Cleo) prospects may increase significantly over time.

The oil company is concerned about the potential impact of project economics as both processing costs and sales prices are linked to the H2S content of the crude.

Gas Contract Demo

Gas Contract Optimization.

Optimizing development to meet Gas Contract terms with PetroVR's constraint system

Synopsis: PetroVR’s constraint system allows the user to handle very complex facility capacity and well scheduling issues.

This simple example demonstrates how the constraint system capabilities can be used to automatically schedule drilling of wells and construction of facilities to the point in time the production is required to meet a contracted gas volume.

Operations Management Demo

West Texas Field Operations Planning.

Creating a workover plan with PetroVR

Synopsis: PetroVR is most often used as an evaluation tool to create models of future projects. This example demonstrates how PetroVR also can be used to manage field operations in a producing field with many wells. “Field A” has 50 wells and our task is to generate a workover/recompletion schedule covering the next 7 years.
